Aakash Tablet Not Releasing This year for students
I have to update this post, because due to funds problem, Aakash tablet will not be releasing this year for students. The Government of India fails to keep promise to the students.

Main reason is transfer the Aakash Project from IIT-Rajasthan to IIT-Bombay.

New Aakash 2 Tablet Launched by Indian Government

Aakash a.k.a. Ubislate is an Android-based tablet computer marketed by the Indian Government as part of an effort to link 25,000 colleges and 400 universities in an e-learning application. It is produced by the British-Canadian company DataWind. It is made by the India-based organization Quad, at a new development centre in Hyderabad, with a organized test run of 100,000 units. The tablet product was officially launched as the Aakash in New Delhi on 5 October 2011. The Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development introduced an upgraded second-generation model called Aakash 2 in April 2012.
